Chapter I

My Half-Blood Story

Ok, I don't even know how I got into this mess. One day, I'm with my friends and two chaperones on a plane to New York City for a two-week long vacation, and all of a sudden, we're in some year-round, Greek camp! My name is River, River Borgos. I'm 14, one of the oldest of my friends. All my life, things just seem to go wrong. My friends and I have yet to manage to stay more than one year at any school. Sometimes we've each had to move to a new place due to events that we just can't explain. My friends and I all have the exact same issues, too. We each have ADHD, and dyslexia. However, out of everyone else, I'm the most hyperactive. It was me, two chaperones, aka, mine and Elani's moms, and my three friends, Elani Demetriou, Morgan Ayers, and Rachel Rinehart. We've known each other since first grade, and even though we live far from each other, we're still as close as we were in first grade. So, let me tell you our story.
It was a nice, summer Monday in New York as we landed in JFK International. School had ended last Friday and we we're loving it. We each were excited for different things in New York. I wanted to see "Spamalot" on Broadway, Elani and Rachel were dying to go see the Metropolitan Museum of Art, what with them being artists and all, and Morgan was dying to see and visit Lady Liberty. I swear, the whole drive to our hotel, he kept on yammering on and on about it.  Anyways, we got to the hotel, and got our room keys, then hauled our stuff up to our connected rooms. We got three rooms, one for Morgan and I, one for the girls, and a last one for our chaperones. So, that was our arrival.
We then decided to walk to Central Park while the moms napped in their room. It was nice day, and kids were out and about, flying kites, playing tag, eating picnic lunches with their families, all that jazz. So, we decided to follow suit and we got some lunch and ate by the lake. We then noticed a kid with crutches being bullied by some other, older kids. I was the first to notice, my friends soon following my gaze. It was when the kid with crutches got shoved to the ground did we decide to step in.
We packed up our lunch and we started over. As we got closer, we heard the older kids taunting and laughing at the boy on the ground. I then ran over to the kid on the ground, acting as a dear friend. "Hey, there you are. You ok, buddy? These guys picking on you?"
"Hey, hey, hey! What's going on here, shrimp? You know this freak?"
Rachel and Morgan were helping the boy on the ground up, while Elani stood by my side. "Yeah, we do. He's our friend. Now lay off."
The older kids laughed. "The freak's got friends? Oh that is too much!"
I felt my blood starting to boil. "Go play on the freeway."
By now, Morgan and Rachel were walking the boy over to us, who hadn't said much after we got in and saved him.
That's when they started to surround us. "You ain't going nowhere, shrimp."
I growled in annoyance as the four of us surrounded the boy. I noticed the boy studying us from behind, taking in our features as best he could.
"Come on, seriously?" I heard Morgan say, irritation in his voice.
The biggest boy, clearly the leader, jerked his head to his right, and another boy started walking over, coming towards Rachel. He swung his fist at her but she blocked it and punched him in the gut with an uppercut. The boy fell to the ground, coughing and wheezing in pain. The boy with crutches spoke to us quietly.
"Follow me!" And with that, he started hobbling out of the gap in the circle of what was five boys, now four.
"Hey, stop 'em!" The remaining four charged at us and we ran. So did the boy with crutches. I looked at him in surprise, but kept running. We ran and ran till we got to the other side of Central Park, and that's a long way. We eventually lost them near the end, and we were exhausted. We just about collapsed on a park bench, all of us panting hard. The boy with crutches was also panting, but not as hard as us.
"Hey, thanks back there." He extended a hand to me which I shook.
"No- no problem."
"My name is Ragen. You?"
"My name is River, the boy over there is Morgan, the girl with pale skin is Rachel, and the last girl is Elani."
Ragen seemed to be in deep thought. "Cool. You guys tourists?"
"You could say that." Spoke up Elani, gaining her voice.
I adjusted my cuff bracelets to a more comfortable spot as we caught our breath. We later caught a cab to our hotel, Ragen coming with. We got out of the cab and we took the elevator up to our floor. It was in the elevator that Ragen got a good look at all of us. I should probably explain what we look like.

I was wearing a pair of jeans that were baggy in the legs with a leather belt and a silver anvil as the buckle and steampunk shoes. I was wearing a brown T-shirt with a silver hammer on the front. I also had a pair of steampunk goggles on my head and I had a red and brown bandanna both tied around my neck. I had dark, curly hair that was usually messy and unkempt. On my arms are a pair of pure silver cuff bracelets that my mom said my dad gave to me before he left us for a trip and never came back. He also left me a pure silver lighter that never seems to run out of fuel with a hammer engraved on both sides. I always have it on my person. I also have a wrench on my person at all times, except when I'm sleeping.

Morgan wore a blue T-shirt with an owl type of design on the front and dark blue jeans. He wore a brown leather belt with the face of an owl as the buckle. A blue Swiss Army Knife hangs from his belt as well. He said his deceased mom left it for him so he's never without it. Yeah, the guy likes owls. He also wore blue running shoes and his honey colored hair is kept in a ponytail that he started in sixth grade.

Rachel was wearing a black, V-neck T-shirt with a black jacket that had a comical skull on the front and shoulders. Her shoes were a pair of black Converse with skulls on them and black jeans. Along with a black belt and a skull as the buckle. On her right wrist is a bracelet with a mini scythe engraved into it. Her mom told her that her dad left it for her when she was a baby and she hasn't taken it off once since she put it on.  Her hair is long and dark that reaches to about her mid-back.

Elani has long black hair that reaches to just about her butt with a single purple streak in her hair. She wore a black V-neck T-shirt with a large purple thunderbolt on the front. A silver locket is around her neck that stops at her growing cleavage. A thunderbolt is engraved on the face of the locket and the Greek letter Omega is engraved on the back. She also wears a pair of light blue jeans with lightning designs on the back pockets. She also wears a pair of purple skater shoes. On her back is a pair of eagle wings tattooed onto her shoulder blades.

The elevator doors then opened onto our floor and we led Ragen to our rooms. There was a window next to me and Morgan's door and there was a rainbow coming out of it. Ragen stopped and said he had to make a phone call, to let someone know where he was. I looked at my friends and they just shrugged. We then went into my room, leaving Ragen to his business. Ragen waited till we had left and he took out a gold coin and he tossed it into the rainbow. He waited a second then spoke to the rainbow. "Chiron, it's Ragen. I think I found four Half-Bloods."
Then the rainbow spoke back. "Di immortales... Well, you know what to do, Ragen. Get them here."
"One problem Chiron."
"What is it?"
Ragen chose his words carefully. "I... I think we have a hydra after them."
The voice, Chiron, was silent for two seconds. "That... is indeed a problem."
So, here it is! Please be nice with comments! I'm writing Chapter II even now. Tell your friends!

All elements of Percy Jackson and The Olympians (C) Rick Riordan

River Borgos, Elani Demetriou, Morgan Ayers, Rachel Rinehart, and Ragen (C) Mine!

-EDIT!- Ok, I had to edit this a bit cause of some minor elements that require parents. Also, before you start hounding me that a minor can't get a tattoo, it depends on the state. Elani got her tattoo in California for her 13th birthday and she had her parent's consent.
